Kotha ("the app") is developed by Sariyah Tech. This policy explains what data the app collects, why, and how it's handled.
1. Your video, and when it's uploaded
While you transcribe and edit captions, your original video stays on your phone. Only a small audio-only track is extracted from it on-device and sent to our backend, solely to produce a transcript; that audio file is deleted from our servers as soon as transcription completes. Your full video is uploaded to our servers only once, at the moment you tap Export, so our server can burn your captions into the final clip - the source video you uploaded is deleted from our servers immediately after rendering finishes, and the rendered, captioned copy is deleted from our servers as soon as it finishes downloading to your device.
2. Account data
If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, profile picture, and a unique identifier from Google - used only to create and identify your Kotha account. We do not receive or store your Google password. If you create an account with email and password, we store your email, display name, and a one-way hash of your password (we cannot read the password itself). We issue our own short-lived session token for subsequent requests; it is not your Google credential.
3. Transcript and usage data
Transcripts generated from your audio, along with basic usage counters (how many videos you've processed this month, your plan tier, and clip durations), are stored against your account so the app can show your history and enforce your plan's monthly quota. We do not use transcript content for advertising or sell it to third parties.
4. Payments
Paid plans in the Android app on Google Play are purchased through Google Play Billing. Google processes the payment; we receive a purchase token, verify it with Google, and store it against your account so the subscription can be restored. We do not receive or store your card number, Play password, or other Google payment credentials.
You can also subscribe on our website using bKash. Website subscriptions are linked to the same Google account you use to sign in to the app. We store the bKash transaction ID, sending number, claimed plan, and verification status. We do not store bKash PINs, passwords, or full account credentials - we never ask for them.
5. Advertising
Kotha may show Google AdMob ads: banners on free-tier screens, a short rewarded ad before free-tier export, and a banner while an export is rendering (all plans, including paid). AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data under its own privacy policy to serve and measure ads. You can review Google's practices at https://policies.google.com/privacy. Ad-related data collection only occurs where ads are actually shown to you.
6. Data retention
Account records, usage counters, and payment claim records are retained for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us (see Section 8). Uploaded videos and rendered exports on our servers are deleted as described in Section 1 above and are not retained beyond that. Once an exported video is downloaded, it lives on your device and is managed by your device's own storage/gallery - deleting it from your gallery removes it like any other file.
7. Children's privacy
Kotha is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required by your country), and we do not knowingly collect data from children below that age.
8. Contact
Questions about this policy or requests to access/delete your data can be sent to info@sariyahtech.com.
9. Changes
We may update this policy as the app changes. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, announced in the app.
